In the creation of my main media product (trailer) was Imovie and for the ancillary tasks were mainly created using Photoshop, the initial filming and photos that were taken where taking using ‘Canon HDV LEGRIA HV40’ and the photos were taken using a Panasonic DMC-FZ50

Using photoshop I was able to create a draft of my two ancillary tasks, poster and magazine cover, I was able to use photoshop to create draft outlines for them, once I had created the draft outline for them on photoshop I begun editing them and changing them to make them the final form that they are now

IMovie was a really easy piece of software to learn how to use, they way all the sections of film and sound are presented in tiles which are easy to edit, add sound, slow down, speed up and most importantly to add effects which I added plenty of to get the closest horror feel possible out of the trailer

Facebook is another piece of software technology that I used to gather feed back on my ancillary tasks, when they were in the development stage, I also used blogger so people all over the world can see my progress and keep up to date with my progress and importantly give me feedback

Evaluation Question 3 What have you learned from audience feedback?

What have you learned from audience feedback?

To gather audience feedback for my ancillary tasks (poster/magazine cover) I created a facebook group so that my potential audience could comment and see what improvements could be made to them both

The feedback I gathered was very positive, the target audience produced some very good feedback, one person made it clear how they liked how it all went together nicely, complementing the black on white, how its “distinctive and easy to read” and how the main image I had used “suits horror genre” this feedback was for my magazine front cover

When I attained my audience feedback I also acquired It for my poster which I am very happy with, I got lots of positive feedback and ways in which I could improve my poster, I got comments on how people thought it “looks very professional” and how the quote along the to of the poster “invites you to find out” I was going for the clear bold red and white text on the black background so that the text would be as clear as possible “the text is evidently clear too” the colour scheme I chose worked as I was complimented on that and I was also told a way I could improve it by reducing the size of “A film by Jess Brown”

Evaluation Question 2 How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

For the main resemblance between my two ancillary tasks is the picture of Anna I have used, I have two images of Anna what I used one on my poster and one on my magazine cover, in both images of Anna she is looking slightly down with her eyes looking dead on the camera, she looks evil and delusional in the pictures which is exactly what I was going for, also they are both quite dark images as that’s how I made them, the text for the title “Delusional” on the poster is in the same font as the text on the magazine cover, on the magazine cover it actually displays a picture of the poster which really improves the synergy,

I used the picture of Anna and the dark corridor with the candles as she is the main character and features right through my trailer, I took advantage of hell well the images went with the dark corridor for the poster and the magazine cover, for my magazine I follow the convention of a clean image that doesn’t cover the title, on both the poster and the magazine cover, I have used red and white text, on the poster the text is a darker red so it doesn’t not contrast so much with the black

The based my poster for my film trailer off “One Missed Call” and “Mirrors” which both follow a convention of having on central image, the title is normally in red with all the other text in white, I have other conventions of a modern poster as well such as, the main cast and production teams involved in white under the title, I have when its going to be released in maroon the same as the title, I also have the web address and a Facebook /twitter icon which adds a nice modern twist to the poster

For my magazine cover I based it off ‘Empire’ magazine taking conventions off it such as the main title being bold and red and all other text being white, having a main image and depending on what the main image is, depends on what sub title its going to display, in my case the main sub heading is across the bottom and clearly reads “Delusional” which is in the same font as the poster, where as the rest of the text on my magazine is in a different font I also have the web address and a Facebook /twitter icon  which is a really nice modern touch on it

Evaluation Question 1 In which ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of media products

In which ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of media products

I followed the typical conventions of the type of trailer I wanted, in this case I wanted to go with the horror film trailer,

For the narrative, I created a plot that takes place during when the main character ‘Anna” Is having hallucinations or delusions which is when I came up with the idea for the name ‘Delusional’ and she tells her best and most closest friend who then tells someone and she rejects him, and the delusion’s get worse for her, during the trailer black screens come up in between shots displaying text, explaining the meaning of the word ‘Delusional’ and what is happening so its easier to understand

The main character ‘Anna’ herself becomes on of her delusion’s, which is why she is looking in the mirror, the trailer is based when it has been established that she has these visions, in the film you would see how the visions are actually real events that only she can see. Before anyone believes her it’s too late

My media trailer has followed many of the typical horror trailers, there has several shot shots and black screens with text on them, it has music that builds up tension and at the very end has a typical scream and a flash shot

The way I presented my media trailer was in the style of film trailers such as ‘Rec’, ‘Grave Encounters’, ‘The Ring’ I used filters on the trailer to give it a more gloomy and scary horror film feel, I also increased and decreased the speed of the shots at certain points to give it more of a horror film feel to it

The way in which my media trailer follows conventions of the way it has been structured, basically it starts off with the certificate warning, then it shows the studio logo ‘Twilight Films’ then go from start to end, it ends on a black screen with the website, when its being released and film name
